Whether you're watching today or planning to watch tomorrow,
the JVC DLA-NX5 is the ultimate 4K projector for dedicated home theater. It has
the highest dissimilarity ratio and best black levels of any sub-$10,000
projector we've tested, plus true 4K resolution, HDR support, and a wider color
gamut. Your 4K movies will have all the depth and clarity you need for a
premium home theater experience.
The JVC DLA-NX5 excels in HD and 4K video playback with
excellent contrast ratio, rich colors and excellent detail. The projector's
dynamic tone mapping for HDR signals is excellent, so it retains all the
details best in bright light. It supports nearly all of the wider DCI/P3 color
gamut currently used for 4K content, so you'll see brighter reds, blues and
greens. Its motorized lens system and built-in image presets for specific
screens make it easy to set up without a professional installer. The DLA-NX5
isn't the best choice for a living room or other common space (we have other
recommendations for that), and it's larger than any other projector we've
tested (you won't want to move it once installed). ), but works great for home
theater.
If you neediness a projector that looks great with 1080p
content but can also parade enhanced colors and HDR detail in 4K content, the
Epson Home Cinema 5050UB is great for the price. This projector can receive a
4K signal and uses 1080p optical shift LCD panels to simulate 4K resolution,
but it is not a true 4K projector like the JVC DLA-NX5. It supports HDR10
playback and covers nearly as much of the DCI color gamut as the JVC DLA-NX5
and offers fully automated lens control and flexible customization options.
