Ultimate ones have arrived, characterized by more RAM but above all by a very
particular external display. We are not in the presence of a revolution, as
well as of a strictly necessary feature, however the rear screen is an element
that must be told, even if only to understand what can be done with it.
Rog Phone 5 Ultimate
We decided not to review the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, the user
experience is identical to what we saw in the test of the ROG Phone 5 base ,
the only differences concern the rear screen and the presence of more RAM and
internal memory. Before talking about this particular element, let's summarize
the technical specifications of this Ultimate variant. At the base we find the
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with a maximum frequency of 2.84 GHz and
Adreno 660 GPU, a configuration equal to that of the other models, there is no
more powerful processor in the Android field today.
The Ultimate differs in the memory cuts, in fact we find 512
GB of internal memory UFS 3.1 (against the 256 GB of the lower variants) and 18
GB of LPDDR5 RAM(16 GB in the others). It is the first smartphone to mount 18
GB of RAM, a huge and decidedly oversized quantity for the real needs of the
phone.
The rest of the data sheet is unchanged and we find a
6.78-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 20.4: 9 from 2448x1080 pixels, refresh
rate from 144 Hz, compatibility with HDR10 and HDR10 +, Gorilla Glass Victus
glass and a particularly accurate factory calibration.
The photographic structure consists of a 64 Megapixel main
sensor, along with a 13 Megapixel wide angle and a 5 Megapixel macro camera,
all topped off with a 24 Megapixel front camera. Finally we find a 6000 mAh

The Extra Screen Of The Rog Phone 5 Ultimate
We have not seen a screen of this type in any other
smartphone. The Pro variant has a similar one but in color, in this Ultimate
instead a small monochrome panel was used, called ROG Vision . Why install the
color variant in the lower model? In our opinion, ROG wanted to aim at the
hearts of the players , because by observing the animations that memory is able
to do, it can only go to the world of gaming of the past, pixelated but still
very fascinating.
The management of ROG Vision passes all through the Armory
Crate software, which remains the hub from which to control all the functions
of the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate. Once you have entered the relative menu, you have
immediate access to the configuration of the screen based on the different
operating states in which the smartphone is located. Several ready-to-use
animation presets are available, dedicated for example to X Mode, connecting an
external accessory or incoming calls: each time one of these conditions occurs,
the relative animation starts on the rear display .
By tapping on each of them it is possible to further
customize them through different presets, for a very wide variety. But the real
gem is represented by the animation editor, with which to add customized images
and texts at will. This feature seems to be designed specifically for esports
teams, who can make their smartphone unique by using the team logo or name.
Obviously, even the customized effects can be enriched with
animations, for a decidedly particular final effect.
The possibilities are different, however, remember that the
general use experience of the phone does not change compared to other models .
This makes the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate a very exclusive and niche product,
intended for the most avid fans of mobile gaming. Those looking for a gaming
smartphone that can give great satisfaction can go serenely on the basic
variant of the ROG Phone 5, already equipped with everything you need to play
at its best.
