When it comes to design and PC, our thoughts often turn to coarse configurations, where LEDs are the absolute protagonists, transforming our gaming machines into expensive Christmas trees . In reality, the time when it was only LEDs to define a gaming PC is only a distant memory, today we have an endless choice of components (shortage permitting) with which to create builds for all tastes. Those looking for aggressive lines and pushed LED lighting can find many products suitable for this purpose, but NZXT's H510 Elite case and Kraken Z63 cooler don't fall into this category. techiescity
The Californian house stands out from the others for more
sober and minimal designs but still perfect for the gaming world, just think of
the beautiful NZXT H1 released last year , which overcoming the problems with
the PCIe riser remains today one of the most particular Mini ITX cases of 2020.
What strikes about NZXT is the stylistic coherence carried out in the various
types of chassis and of accessories , from the smallest to the largest, a
glance is enough to understand that you are in front of a product of the
Californian house, as in the case of the H510 Elite case and the Kraken Z63
heatsink that we have tried in recent weeks.
Why choose nzxt?
In this period it is difficult to talk about PC components
given their limited availability and market prices, never so high. NZXT's
proposal is located in the premium segment, especially with the Kraken Z63
heatsink, proposed for around 235 euros, while the H510 Elite case can be
purchased for around 160 euros. A high entry price that could discourage many
enthusiasts, but these products must be correctly framed within the market,
they are not aimed at those looking to spend as little as possible for the same
performance , but more to those who want to create a build with the style that
characterizes NZXT and who intend to enter the company's ecosystem. NZXT's goal
is to offer a continuum in the experience of using the various products, thanks
to an ecosystem that today allows you to build a PC from scratch using almost
only components of the American brand.
It is no coincidence that NZXT has also started producing
motherboards, the aim is to create configurations with a precise style that can
be immediately traced back to the company, moreover manageable entirely from a
single software, with which to set all the parameters that they serve the PC,
from lighting to overclocking, in a very simple way.
In short, the NZXT shop is not cheap, but the price includes
an ecosystem that allows you to create very clean, sober and beautiful builds ,
all with a single management software for most of the hardware.
The Nzxt H510 Elite Case And The Kraken Z63 Cooler
The undisputed strength of the NZXT H510 Elite is its
design, sober, elegant and minimal, which can be associated with a gaming PC as
in the world of Creators. There are two versions, the normal one (H510) and the
one we talk about in this review, the H510 Elite. The differences between the
two are mostly aesthetic , the Elite variant in fact also uses glass on the
front, thus showing the two RGB fans (without lighting in the basic model),
also an LED strip has been inserted in the upper part, integrated directly into
the houses. To complete the offer we find the new Smart Device V2, for
controlling fans and lighting, and finally the possibility of installing the
video card vertically. These elements change above all the aesthetic impact of
the product,if they are not interested, it is better to aim for the basic
variant , which costs much less (about 90 €).
Returning to the aesthetics, the dimensions of the H510
Elite are contained compared to other mid-towers (460mm H x 428mm D x 210mm),
it is easy to find space on the desk compared to other models. The wow effect,
once turned on, is ensured, thanks to the lighting management through the NZXT
Cam software and the use of various components of the American brand, including
the N7 motherboard with Z490 chipset that we used in this test.
This is an important strength, because making a build so
cohesive on an aesthetic level is not at all easy , at least using components
from multiple manufacturers. The tempered glass is present on the front and on
the side, thus showing the internal components, without exaggerating, thanks to
a transparency only hinted at.
The H510 Elite is compatible with Mini ITX, Micro ATX and
ATX motherboards and offers seven expansion slots for various cards. The case
is closed on the front, this prevents the finding of fresh air from the
outside, so it is better to aim for a suitable AIO heatsink. Included in the
price are two 140mm front RGB fans, one 140mm at the top and one 120mm at the
rear. The memory expansion slots include two 3.5-inch slots, which can also be
used for 2.5-inch models, and three 2.5-inch memory slots.
Our experience with the NZXT H510 Elite has been positive,
the installation was very simple until the end, the only more complex element
to manage is the heatsink. The front fans of the case are in fact anchored to a
support, which in turn must be screwed to the radiator of the Kraken Z63, an
apparently simple operation but which must be carried out with care. In fact,
it is enough to screw the radiator half a millimeter lower than necessary and
this no longer allows you to insert the fan support in its seat, keep this in
mind if you want to assemble a similar build, thus avoiding unnecessary waste
of time.
In spite of a first-class aesthetic, the build quality of
the 510 Elite is good but the metal surrounding the case is not the thickest ,
we have seen better under this front. On the other hand, the cable management
system on the right side of the case is excellent, we managed to route all the
cables with the utmost simplicity, hiding most of them from view.
In short, our experience with the H510 Elite was positive,
the only drawback is the price to pay for this case , influenced more by the
aesthetic component, truly exceptional.
Moving on to the Kraken Z63 liquid heatsink, this turned out
to be a performing and very customizable product, as you can also see in the
video. The selling price is high but the quality is beyond question, both in
terms of performance and aesthetics , where NZXT manages to stand out from the
crowd.
The 280 mm radiator and the two front fans managed well to
keep the heat generated by the Intel i9-10900K CPU at bay, certainly not easy
to manage given the closed conformation of the case in the front. The noise
generated, even when the CPU pushes on the frequencies, is never annoying,
confirming the excellent dissipating qualities of this AIO. To this is added an
important aesthetic component, because an LCD display is installed on the
waterblock on which to view information on temperatures, but also fully
customizable images .
It is immediately clear that the case, heatsink and
motherboard are designed to work in perfect cohesion, also thanks to the NZXT
Cam software, with which to control all aspects of the machine, from
temperatures to lighting, passing through overclocking and fan speeds. This is
the primary strength of NZXT and of the products we used during this test,
their perfect integration , which combined with high quality, especially as
regards the Kraken Z63 heatsink, make us understand the reason for a higher
selling price. average, but necessary to enter the ecosystem of the American
